A multicoloured, handwoven scarf made from soft and breathable merino wool. The design is based on a geometric pattern and a complex three-dimensional structure in which the colours interact across three dimensions — along the length and width of the fabric, as well as between its layers. The scarf has two distinctly different sides, allowing it to be worn in two ways: with the darker, violet-red side exposed or with the brighter, more vivid combination of reds and shades of orange. The “Sunset” series is inspired by the colours of this extraordinary natural phenomenon — the moment when light, red, orange and violet gradually overlap and transform into one another. I wanted to translate this changing quality into a handwoven textile, using geometry and layered structure rather than directly depicting a landscape. Each scarf in the series differs in the way its colour layers are arranged and in how they interact with one another. Although they share the same inspiration and overall character, each piece creates its own combination of colours and woven patterns.
