Quiet lake: Fireweed
Merino Wool
This handwoven scarf is my own design, made from Irish Donegal merino wool. The natural yarn is soft and pleasant to the touch, giving the finished fabric a warm, breathable feel and a substantial texture. A timeless accessory for the cooler days of autumn, winter and early spring, it combines everyday practicality with the character of handwoven craftsmanship and the slow fashion ethos. The scarf has two distinct sides, each defined by a different dominant colour palette. While creating the "Quiet Lake" series, I wanted to capture the atmosphere and colours of the banks of a small body of water. The muted tones suggest water, mist and waterside vegetation, while the colour accents draw on the flowers of plants that grow in such places. "Fireweed" belongs to the evening primrose family and blooms with purple-fuchsia flowers. Its dried leaves are used to make "Ivan chai", a traditional East Slavic tea often enjoyed as an alternative to black tea.
